Been a bit of a messy one this week because my buzzing brain of course was installed with a full factory reset of migraines. I had a nasty one this Thursday and it disrupted all my plans.
Anyway! If you’re making a plan to watch this weekend and you can’t commit to all 6 games (fair). I recommend tuning in to these ones which are all on today!
GAME 1: Auckland Storm v Manawatū Cyclones, 2.05pm Eden Park or Sky Sport 1
This is make or break point for the Cyclones after not picking up a win this season. The Storm meanwhile need redemption after that misfire in Tauranga.
GAME 2: Waikato v Bay of Plenty Volcanix, 2.05pm FMG Stadium or Sky Sport
Both these teams are currently unbeaten in the Premiership. Waikato haven’t quite been the well oiled machine we saw last season but who cares when you get the win? The Volcanix meanwhile are the dark horse of this season, last week was a big upset can they take another?
GAME 3: Northland Kauri v Hawke’s Bay Tui, 4.35pm Semenoff Stadium or Sky Sport 2
The last time these two played, the Tui edged the Kauri out of playoffs. So there will be some FEELING out on the paddock. This match will also come as a good marker on how things are shaping up in the Championship.

A couple of things I wrote popped up in publications this week.
This one for the Spinoff came on the back of the Heath Davis story. Mad had asked that I write something about sport and sexuality so I wrote about something odd I’ve experienced which is the way in which sport can be a very validating experience for queer cis women when it is a challenging one for gay cis men.
