Kia ora e hoa mā,
Firstly, you are all beautiful and amazing and I love you. Thanks to everyone who has signed up, very humbling to have 100 of you so quick out the gate. A special thanks to those that have chipped in and put some money in the pot. You’ve got my brain buzzing double time at all the things that are now possible if we keep growing our team.

Your membership cards have been ordered so I will be dropping you an email to grab your postal address so I can get yours too you ASAP. I know, it’s just what you’ve always wanted, a picture of me getting monstered to have as a keepsake.
I have always had a warm relationship with my friends in the Waikato
What’s coming up?
There are a couple of things on my list and I welcome your feedback to help me prioritise which should be bumped up to the top. So in no particular order:
We have had the Farah Palmer Cup draw come out maybe the earliest I can ever recall. Which means there is actually a chance to try and give you a preview ahead of the tournament. Will need to get a couple of mates on the phone to have a chat with me about how they are looking.
The next subject I’m looking to write about is one that was made louder with the events in the Northern Hemisphere last week. I have opinions about authentic allyship and the women’s sports washing of some people/platforms that we are only going to see increase as our audience does.
I have to lock in my final travel details to go and meet one of the legends of the game and the inspiration for my mullet, Geri Paul.
Geri in the barber’s chair on tour in 1991.
Geri was the captain of Taranaki in 1989 and a flanker at the 1991 World Cup. This deadset legend has recently moved home to Poroporo to restart the women’s section at her home club after 30+ years. I am going to write a piece for the LockerRoom on this but there will be more than one story on this so get ready for June to become the month of Geri!WHO THE HECK IS THIS TEAM!!!
It might surprise you all to know that I am a massive nerd (I know I hide it so well). So in a “Alice you really should have known you’d end up telling stories” moment, I created a spreadsheet with every reference I could find in our digital archives of women’s rugby from 1880 to the 1950s.
This photo is a mystery, a New Zealand women’s side in England in the 1920s??? First I’ve ever heard of such a thing and so I want to figure out the story behind it. I have my date booked with the library to go in and take a peek to see if I can make any more sense of it.
That’s it from me for now, see you on the internet!
With you,
Alice
